20 Feb Taco Seasoning

Everyone's favorite meal is easily found in your pantry.

It seems like, if you want to please the masses, serve tacos.

I mean, have you ever met someone who doesn’t like tacos? I’ll wait.

Nope? That’s what I thought.

We are a little taco obsessed around here, but can you blame us? With some seasoning and a pound of ground beef you have endless taco-y possibilities. Soup, salad, quesadillas, casseroles, actual tacos… and more.

And, I know you can totally get the seasoning in a little packet at the store, but we DIY it. For starters, for me to go and spend money on something that already exists in my pantry seems silly. But, if you want to get into the nitty-gritty, many taco packets are fun of preservatives, artificial colors, and even sugars.

Making your own taco seasoning is easy and lets you customize your heat and spice level and even saves you a little cash.

It can save you time too! If you make tacos often and want to whip up a big batch and keep it covered in the pantry for up to a year. (This makes a good gift, too, if you are headed to a good old fashioned fiesta!)

Taco Seasoning

Ingredients
  • 1 tbs chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
Instructions
  1. Combine all the ingredients well and pour them into a small jar. Cover with a lid and keep for up to one year. This should be good for about 3 meals that use 1 pound of ground beef.
  2. Note: You can easily customize any measurement to best suit your taste preference.
